Members of the student leadership council along with teacher coordinators plan to make it a memorable Christmas at Pereyma despite the coronavirus which is stopping people from gathering in large groups. At Pereyma, it has been a yearly tradition that the week before Christmas break, to have events and activities that share the joy of the season such as the talent show, and Christmas cheer week.

Most years, during the talent show, students gather in the school gym and have fun watching fellow students perform and the rest of the day is spent participating in activities taking place around the school before Christmas break starts.

This year is quite different since there is global pandemic, and students cannot be too close to each other but the SLC decided to switch the talent show to virtual so that students can watch the performances while staying safe. In addition to that, they are also having a cheer week which is when students in different cohorts can dress in Christmas attire during different days of the week and win prize baskets.

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) is a collective of students in the school grades 7-12 and teachers. They organize fun events to bring the school community together. Julia Le, one of the SLC members said “I’m really looking forward to this Christmas season because we have a lot of fun things planned. We tried to make the best out of a not-ideal situation, so we hope that everyone has fun participating in our Christmas cheer week, even though it may not feel like Christmas.”

Although it will not be the same last day of school before break experience, it is nice that SLC coordinators decided not to cancel it so students can have something memorable before Christmas break.
